August 2025: On the Wire - ISO® 20022 Newsletter

Thank you for your support!
On July 14, Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) adopted the ISO 20022 message format for the Fedwire® Funds Service in a single-day implementation. The widespread adoption of ISO 20022 positions the ISO 20022 message format to become a universal messaging language for the payments industry and help encourage innovation in payment technologies. The Fedwire Funds Service’s migration is a significant milestone for the payments industry, enabling financial institutions to standardize messaging formats across systems, helping customers receive richer data and enhancing client services.
We value the trust you place in FRFS and appreciate the hard work, time and resources you have put in for the past several years to prepare for the Fedwire Funds Service’s migration to the new ISO 20022 standard. We remain focused on improving our services and their features in response to your feedback. Thank you for your dedication and preparation.

Post-ISO 20022 implementation FAQs
Find answers to questions about the new ISO 20022 format, including post-migration frequently asked questions (FAQs). If your payments are not being processed straight through, we encourage you to work directly with your transaction counterparty and others involved in processing your payment transactions (e.g., service providers or software vendors) to determine whether your systems and/or processes need to be tweaked.
