- Avoid overnight overdrafts and stay within intraday overdraft capacity (i.e., ensure compliance with Federal Reserve policies).
- Supports FedNow participants in managing their master account balances.
Network Intelligence
Category: Risk Mitigation
Use Cases
Allows sending financial institutions to request information (“data insights”) via an API to help them better assess the overall fraud risk of a potential FedNow payment.
Benefits
- Better identify the risk of a potential payment by utilizing network-level data.
- Leverage network-level data insights to complement your institution’s own payment data and fraud mitigation processes.
- Enables flexibility and ease of use where sending financial institutions can use the data insights in a way that best fits their fraud mitigation needs.
Participant List
Category: Service Management
Use Cases
Provides a daily listing of all routing transit numbers (RTNs) enabled on the FedNow Service (similar to the admi.998 participant list). The participant list API can be called at any time, although the list changes only at the start of each cycle date.
Benefits
- Helps reduce payment rejections by ensuring systems have an updated listing of RTNs that can receive payments via the FedNow Service.
- A list of active FedNow participants can be requested at any time.
Ping
Category: Service Management
Use Cases
Checks API connection to the FedNow Service and is used when first setting up API connectivity or confirming connectivity. Participants are required to use the Ping API to confirm connectivity to the FedNow Service during onboarding. Ping API usage is otherwise optional.
Benefits
- Quickly verify whether a successful connection can be established to FedNow Service APIs.
