Improve payments accuracy with routing data from the E-Payments Routing Directory

Accurate routing data for payments improves the overall payments system and minimizes transaction errors, saving time and money for both financial institutions and their corporate customers. The Federal Reserve Banks’ E-Payments Routing Directory provides basic routing information for Fedwire® Funds Service, Fedwire Securities Service and FedACH® transactions. This information is:

  • Synchronized with the Federal Reserve FedACH and Fedwire databases daily
  • Provided solely as a service to financial institutions and other authorized users to help process and settle their transactions efficiently

Financial institutions and their corporate customers, as well as non-banking institutions, have several options through the E-Payments Routing Directory to obtain this data.

Complete E-Payments Routing Directory data files

Complete E-Payments Routing Directory data files are available to credentialed users via the FedLine Web® or FedLine Advantage® Solutions. Financial institutions with a FedLine® Solution may retrieve this data either by automating the download directly into their backend systems by setting up a script, or they may manually download the data and use the generated .txt file. Non-banking institutions must contact the bank or credit union that they use to facilitate their Automated Clearing House (ACH) and wire payments to request an E-Payments Routing Directory download code to automate the download into their backend systems. Financial institutions are encouraged to proactively reach out to their corporate customers to assist them with obtaining this data.

Individual routing data lookup

For manual individual routing data lookup, search for Fedwire participants and for FedACH participant receiving depository financial institutions (RDFI) with commercial receipt volume by name, location (state, or state and city) or routing number on FRBservices.orgSM.
