Effective October 5: Federal Reserve cash order deadline changing to 12 p.m. local time

Effective October 5, the deadline for ordering currency and coin for all Federal Reserve Bank offices and cash depots will change to 12 p.m. local time zone.

The Federal Reserve previously intended to implement the change in the cash order deadline on April 27 and first announced the implementation on February 3. However, as the U.S. cash supply chain was collectively focused on meeting cash demand in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federal Reserve postponed the April 27 implementation. We are now proceeding with the establishment of the national cash order deadline.

We understand that for some organizations this adjustment may necessitate changes in your internal processes, and we appreciate your support and understanding as we work to maintain the efficiency of the cash supply chain.
