The Federal Reserve Banks are planning changes to the Check Adjustment minimum dollar threshold for several investigation types (ITYPs) in support of ongoing efforts to streamline case submission, research and resolution processes. These changes will become effective for the business day of April 30, 2018.

What does this mean to you?

The minimum dollar threshold will change from $25.01 to $0.01 for 14 eligible ITYPs. The change will apply to items processed on or after the April 30, 2018, effective date.

The minimum dollar threshold for the following ITYPs is currently $0.01:

  • Entry in Error (ERR)
  • Not Our Item (NOI)
  • Paid Item (PAID)

The two ITYPs listed below will not be eligible and the minimum dollar threshold will remain $100.

  • Late Return Claim (LC)
  • Late Return Disclaimer (LR)

Visit the Check Adjustments Quick Reference Guide (QRG) for more information on each ITYP, including a description and proper usage, the case submission requirements and the supporting documentation requirements.
