FedLine Direct® Setup

The FedLine Direct access solution offers unattended Internet Protocol (IP)-based access to critical payment services and was designed especially for financial institutions that require a secure computer-to-computer interface to Federal Reserve Financial Services. FedLine Direct offers access to customers who perform high-volume Fedwire® Funds and FedACH® Services transactions, while FedLine Command® offers an additional access option for FedACH users.

The Federal Reserve Banks are currently in the process of retiring System Network Architecture (SNA) Computer Interface (CI) based access solution (PDF) and converting customers to FedLine Direct and/or FedLine Command. The FedLine Direct and FedLine Command access solutions will replace the Federal Reserve Banks' current SNA CI-based solution for most services.

The SNA CI-based access solution will be decommissioned in two phases:

  • By December 31, 2008, the Federal Reserve Banks will end support for SNA CI-based access to critical payment services, including Fedwire® Funds, Fedwire Securities and FedACH Services.
  • By June 30, 2009, the Federal Reserve Banks will end support for SNA CI-based access to other services including billing, accounting and other information services.
