Newly Designed Currency

On April 21, 2010, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (FRB), the United States Secret Service (USSS), and the United States Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) unveiled the new design for the $100 note, which Federal Reserve Banks will begin distributing on February 10, 2011.

New Currency Podcast and Educational Materials

To prepare businesses and consumers for the introduction of the new design, the FRB, USSS, and BEP have developed a range of educational materials, including training DVDs, brochures, and an interactive digital note, all of which are available on the BEP website (Off-site Link) Starting today. businesses and consumers also can now access two new tools:

Educational Podcast – The first in a series of educational videos are now available on the BEP website (Off-site Link). The video, which provides an introduction to the $100 note public education program, is the first of six podcasts which will explore topics such as how to detect a counterfeit note, the art of banknote design and how new notes enter circulation. These episodes will feature guests from the Federal Reserve Board, the United States Secret Service and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

eNewsletter – The first edition of The $100 BankNote, a periodic electronic newsletter carrying news and information of the new $100 note, is now available. Go to the BEP website (Off-site Link) and click on “Email Updates” to join the subscription list.
